Oilers Prospect Report: Condors Playoff Run Ends

We are getting close to the end of the junior hockey season.
Both the WHL and OHL are down to the final four, and the QMJHL isn’t too far behind them.
There are only three Edmonton Oilers prospects outside of Bakersfield to talk about this week.
Let’s take a look at what they have been up to.
Bakersfield Fall Against Heat
It was a disappointing end to the season for the Bakersfield Condors. After sweeping the Abbotsford Canucks, the Stockton Heat did the same to Bakersfield, sending them on their summer vacations early.
The Condors kept it close in all three games, losing 3-1, 3-2, and 6-4; however, they only led once, which was in game three.
Stuart Skinner unfortunately couldn’t continue the good form that he had against Abbotsford. He finished with a 0.883 save percentage and a 3.66 goals against average. Dylan Holloway was the only Condors player to score twice in the series. Bakersfield’s other goal contributions came from Brad Malone, Brendan Perlini, Devin Brosseau and Dino Kambeitz.
Following the conclusion of the season Holloway, Malone, Philip Broberg, Marcus Niemelainen, and Seth Griffith flew up to Edmonton to join the Oilers.
Petrov’s OHL Season Continues
Matvey Petrov and the North Bay Battalion are moving on to the OHL’s Eastern Conference final to take on the Hamilton Bulldogs. That comes after the Battalion knocked out Kingston in five games.
Petrov had two assists for North Bay in game five, both coming on the powerplay. Those two points now take his playoff point streak to six games.
The Oilers’ 6th round from 2021 has one goal and eight points through two rounds for North Bay.
Bourgault Continues To Dominate QMJHL
Xavier Borugault has taken his offensive production from the regular season and continued it into the playoffs.
In the first round against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, Bourgault finished with four goals and seven points in three games.
Now in the second round versus Gatineau, the Oilers’ first rounder has started well with two goals and an assist. His two goals came in game one, both at crucial times.
He gave Shawinigan the lead midway through the third period with his first. However, Gatineau tied the game less than 30 seconds later. Bourgault was then the overtime hero, firing a one-timer by the Gatineau goaltender to win the game.
Shawinigan now holds a 2-0 series lead heading into game three tomorrow.
Wanner’s Season Ends
After advancing to the second round of the WHL playoffs for the first time since 2018, the Moose Jaw Warriors fell in game five to the Winnipeg Ice.
Max Wanner did not play in game five. He finished the WHL playoffs with three goals and seven points in nine points for the Warriors.
