Edmonton Oilers prospect Xavier Bourgault has been named to Canada’s World Junior selection camp roster.
Bourgault, 19, was drafted by the Oilers in the first round of the 2021 draft and he has been lighting up the QMJHL. In 21 games this year, Bourgault has scored 17 goals and 33 points for the Shawinigan Cataractes.
His scoring pace has placed him sixth in QMHL scoring and is tied for second in goals.
Notably, there are two other Oilers prospects who were omitted from the roster: Carter Savoie and Tyler Tullio.
Savoie, 19, was taken by the Oilers in the fourth round of the 2020 draft and has been a dynamic scoring threat at the NCAA level. Now in his second season at the University of Denver, Savoie has scored 11 goals and 19 points in 12 games this year.
Tullio, meanwhile, has been off to a strong start in the OHL this year, too. The 19-year-old has appeared in 19 games for the Oshawa Generals scoring six goals and 28 points.
Selection camp kicks off in Calgary from Dec. 9-13. Here’s a full look at the roster.
