The Edmonton Oilers have goaltender signed Anton Forsberg to a one-year contract.
Forsberg, 27, has bounced between the NHL and AHL over the last number of seasons. He’s appeared in 185 AHL games posting a 2.40 GAA and a .920 save percentage and 48 NHL games over the same time posting a 12-25-4 record and a .901 save percentage.
The bulk of his NHL time came in 2017-18 with Chicago when he appeared in 35 games posting a 10-16-4 record and a .908 save percentage.
The signing will more likely than not see Forsberg in the AHL for the Bakersfield Condors and is more of a third goaltender in the Oilers system than anything.
I can’t see him playing much in Edmonton unless there were injuries or illness next season.
In saying that, he has been a solid AHL goaltender throughout his career and should help to provide some much-needed stability with the Condors.
