According to Edmonton Oilers head coach Todd McLellan, Ty “The Answer” Rattie will be out of the lineup for the next couple of weeks with a muscle injury in his midsection. Rattie was injured in Thursday’s game against the Boston Bruins though it’s not 100% clear where or how the injury took place.
Considering the chemistry Rattie was forming with Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, this injury must feel like a huge blow for a guy that seemed like he was prepared to do anything to keep that spot.
Check out the shift below:
After wrapping up what seemed like a normal shift, Ty Rattie dumped the puck into the Bruins’ zone and skated off the ice in noticeable discomfort. After watching the video a couple of times, I can’t really pick out anything too unusual so Rattie must have gotten something twisted somehow or another.
Earlier this week, Jason Gregor mentioned that Rattie could have suffered a hip-flexor or something that could keep him out of the lineup a while if it dragged on. While Todd McLellan didn’t specify as to what Rattie’s midsection muscle dilemma actually is, it’s obviously bad enough to keep him on the shelf for the rest of the month. Regardless of what happened, this is some bad luck for Rattie.
In five games played so far, Rattie has one goal and one assist for two points.
