Be sure to check out the latest Oilers game day odds from NHL betting site Betway
‘Twas two nights before Christmas and all though the land
Not a plane was arriving, not even those in demand
But the jerseys were hung looking shiny and clean
In hopes McDavid’s streak would reach fifteen
The fans were sitting all snug in their seats
Holding overpriced food and shorter receipts
Gene in his hat, Jack and Louie in tight suits
All three were ready to lead the holler and hoots….
When out on the ice there arose such a clatter
As McLeod, fresh off the IR, sent the Canucks ‘a scatter
Away to the garbage bin did Campbell’s pads fly
As he decided now was the time for a firmer supply
The Nuge was on a quest of new career highs
As Baggedmilk watched with tears in his eyes
When suddenly, with two quick passes and one wrist flick
Zach, the writer of books, had notched a second hat trick
The crowd jubilant and full of Christmas Cheer
Turned to one another and chugged their beer
The goals came more rapid, and fans did a boogie
Then the names bellowed out of the mouth of Woody
“On, Connor! On, Devin! On, Warren! On, Kailer!
On, Kostin! On, Kulak! On, Evan and Skinner!
To the top of the Standings! To the top of the Pacific!
Now skate fast, think fast and be prolific!
The Oilers sprang from the bench, gave the crowd a wave
And flew down the ice with shots Delia couldn’t save.
As the buzzer sounded and Leon screamed you’re phenomenal
The crowd smiled, feeling their time investment was nominal
The cars left the arena, and the crew surveyed the carnage
Whistling happily as there wasn’t much garbage
Zach wrote the Wrap Up, with a special McDavid highlight
While the Nation said Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight.

Hyman – McDavid – Puljujarvi
Foegele – Draisaitl – Yamamoto
Janmark – RNH – Kostin
Holloway – McLeod – Ryan
Nurse – Ceci
Kulak – Barrie
Niemelainen – Bouchard
Ryan McLeod was activated from the IR, and Ryan Murray placed on IR, which confirms McLeod will play tonight. He will add more speed to the lineup and he and Holloway played well together, albeit briefly, before McLeod was injured.
The Canucks won 6-5 last night in a shootout, but they have allowed 32 goals in their last seven games. Edmonton will have no shortage of chances, but needs to play sound defensively like they did v. Dallas.

Kuzmenko – Pettersson – Pederson
Mikheyev – Horvat – Garland
Joshua – Miller – Boeser
Dries – Aman – Lazar
Hughes – Myers
OEL – Schenn
Burroughs – Stillman/Bear
The Canucks didn’t skate today, so it is a guess on Colin Delia starting. Spencer Martin started last night, so I think there is a good chance we see Delia. Ethan Bear was a healthy scratch last night, but I won’t be surprised to see him in the lineup against his former team tonight. Elias Pettersson had five points and was outstanding last night for the Canucks. Edmonton needs to check him like they did Jason Robertson on Wednesday. Don’t give him much space to operate.

GAME DAY PREDICTION: Edmonton wins its sixth consecutive game vs. the Canucks, but score 4+ goals for only the second time in that streak. Oilers win 5-3.
OBVIOUS GAME DAY PREDICTION: McDavid extends his point streak to 15 games. It is the third time he’s had a 15-game point streak. He had 17 and 15-game point streaks last season.
NOT-SO-OBVIOUS GAME DAY PREDICTION: Warren Foegele picks up his first multi-point game of the season.
