Risky Business: Betting on an Oilers win for the #NationVacation

It’s not often that I get this excited about putting bets down on an Oilers game, but that is absolutely the case this morning as we get set to head to Mullett Arena for the first of three matchups with the Arizona Coyotes.

If you missed it, there’s a crew of 50+ Nation Citizens that will be invading the rink at ASU for a game day experience like no other, and a big part of the festivities will be unloading the clip to manifest a win. Of course, betting with our hearts isn’t necessarily the smartest thing one could ever do, but I’ll be in the building and have to do my part.

In terms of what I’m actually betting, however, I think the approach is to cover the field as opposed to getting heavy on any individual bet or prop. If we’re being honest, the Oilers haven’t exactly played like world-beaters over the last couple of weeks, and that has me thinking that spreading the love around is the move this afternoon in Tempe.

If you’re following along at home, the odds I use for my game-day betting articles all season come from Betway. Here’s what I’m putting down against the Arizona Coyotes.

Leon Draisaitl anytime goal scorer at +110. My $5 bet would return $10.50.

Over 59.5 total shots on goal at -116. My $5 bet would return $9.34.

Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid both to score at +300. My $5 bet would return $20.00.

Oilers to win and over 6.5 total goals at +137. My $5 bet would return $11.87.

I really cannot stand the Dallas Stars, and that makes going 2/4 on my bets all the more satisfying. The Oilers needed to win Saturday’s game, and to have it end up in a 4-3 Oilers OT win was a cherry on the sundae.
