Risky Business: Betting on another Oilers win

When we looked at the Oilers’ January schedule on Oilersnation Radio, we felt as though there would be an opportunity for the boys to go on a run if they played their best hockey. I don’t think any of us would have expected the team to crank out 13 straight wins. But now that we’re here, I see opponents like the Columbus Blue Jackets on deck and can’t help but feel like we’re going to keep this heater going. That said, no one wants to be the next team to keep Edmonton’s streak alive, and that means the boys will need to be mindful of the details in their game if they want to keep it all going.

If you’re following along at home, the odds I use for my game day betting articles all season come from Betway. Here’s what I’m putting down against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to register a power play point at +155. My $5 bet would return $12.75.

Over 65.5 total shots on goal at -116. My $5 bet would return $9.34.

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl both to score at +225. My $5 bet would return $16.25.

Over 6.5 total goals and Connor McDavid to register 1+ point at -150. My $5 bet would return $8.33.

As much as I’m annoyed by my betting strategy from Saturday night, it’s also hard to be too upset when depth scoring leads the charge as opposed to the top six doing everything. Either way, I think I need to revisit what I’m doing here on a nightly basis because the usual staple bets haven’t really been coming through for me all that much these days.
