Risky Business is brought to you by NHL odds site Betway!
Thursday was a frustrating night for the Edmonton Oilers. Unfortunately, it was one of those games where they handily outplayed their opponent but still managed to lose anyway. Normally, you’d shake off a loss like that given that getting goalie’d happens from time to time, but every point counts when you’re climbing out of a hole the way the Oilers are, and that makes losing two a tough pill to swallow. The good news is that there’s no time to dwell on the loss, as the boys will now look to start a new streak with tonight’s Hockey Night in Canada matchup against the Florida Panthers. Shut out in their last two outings, the Panthers will likely be coming into Edmonton with a chip on their shoulders as they look to stop the skid and get themselves back on track. What does that mean for my betting plays? It’s a very good question.
If you’re following along at home, the odds I’m using for my game day betting articles all season come from Betway. Here’s what I’m putting down against the Florida Panthers.

Player Prop:

Evan Bouchard over 2.5 shots at +100. My $5 bet would return $10.00.

Easy Money:

Over 62.5 total shots on goal at -125. My $5 bet would return $9.00.

Risky Business:

Connor McDavid to register 2+ power play points at +450. My $5 bet would return $27.50.

Can’t Miss Parlay:

Over 6.5 total goals and Connor McDavid to register 1+ point at -125. My $5 bet would return $9.00.

Last Game

As much as I was happy to more or less even out on my bets against the Lightning, I would have been up nicely had the boys been able to hang onto the win. Pain.
Here’s what I bet against the Lightning:
  • Connor McDavid to register 1+ power play point at +100. ✅
  • Over 1.5 total power play goals at -140. ✅
  • Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl both to score +333.
  • Edmonton Oilers to win + over 5.5 total goals at +125.
And there you have it, friends. Now you know what I’m betting on and how I did last game. As always, I put one unit down on each bet. Hit me up in the comments section to let me know what you’re looking at against the Panthers.
It’s also worth noting that betting lines move throughout the day, so that may be the reason why what’s listed above doesn’t match what’s on Betway when you put together your own bets.
