Risky Business is brought to you by NHL odds site Betway!
On Wednesday night, we held our Season Launch Party at Greta, and it was shocking how quickly the night turned from being a fun-filled affair to something a little darker. I remember walking out of the bar to come home and thinking how that had to be one of the worst season openers that I’ve ever watched, and it was stunning to witness, given how high the expectations were. How did the Oilers come out so flat? Why couldn’t they make anything happen against a Canucks team that was battling a flu bug throughout the lineup? I don’t know if those questions will ever have answers, but we had better see some improvement tonight in the rematch. Anything less than that, and Oilers fans everywhere may spontaneously combust. That said, I believe they’re going to do, and I will be putting my money where my mouth is with a few bets on the boys as an attempt to manifest a win. Will it work? I am a dreamer, after all.
If you’re following along at home, the odds I’m using for my game day betting articles all season come from Betway. Here’s what I’m putting down against the Vancouver Canucks

Player Prop:

Leon Draisaitl to register 2+ points at +110. My $5 bet would return $10.50.

Easy Money:

Over 1.5 total power play goals at -110. My $5 bet would return $9.54.

Risky Business:

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl both to score at +250. My $5 bet would return $17.50.

Can’t Miss Parlay:

Oilers moneyline and over 5.5 total goals at +110. My $5 bet would return $10.50.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t salty about the way things went on Wednesday, and the fact that I lost 3/4 bets was salt in the wound. That said, I’m transparent and I won’t lie to you about when I win or lose.
  • Leon Draisaitl over 2.5 shots at -167.
  • Oilers moneyline and over 5.5 total goals at +115.
  • Over 1.5 total power play goals at +155. ✅
  • Oilers, Leafs, and Bruins all to win at +220.
And there you have it, friends. Now that you know what I’m betting on — I’ll be throwing one unit down on each bet, for the record — feel free to hit me up in the comments section to let me know what you’re looking at against the Canucks. It’s also worth noting that betting lines move throughout the day, so that may be the reason why what’s listed above doesn’t match what’s on Betway when you put together your own bets.
