The Edmonton Oilers are in the win column.
After dropping back-to-back games to the Vancouver Canucks to start the season, the Oilers picked up their first victory of 2023-14 with a 6-1 pounding of the Nashville Predators. Below are the highlights from the game.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS ARE PRESENTED BY BETWAY

Leon Draisaitl opened the scoring for the Oilers with a goal on the man advantage in the first period that moved him into first place on the team’s all-time power play goals leaderboard.
The Oilers added a couple more goals from Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins before Connor McDavid put them up by a score of 4-0 late in the first period. This looked like a broken play as McDavid was tripped as he entered Nashville’s zone but he still managed to pick up the puck and snipe a shot past Juuse Saros.
The Preds scored on the power play in the second period to make the score 4-1 but that was the only goal that Jack Campbell would allow. The veteran had a nice rebound after being pulled in the season opener as he stopped 42 of 43 shots that the Predators threw on net.
Draisaitl added another power play goal shortly after Nashville got on the board to push Edmonton’s lead to 5-1. The goal was Draisaitl’s 24th in 24 games against the Predators and was his 18th goal in his last 10 games against them.
Warren Foegele extended the Oilers’ lead to 6-1 later in the second frame with his first goal of the season. Zach Hyman got the puck behind the net and dished it off, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins fed Foegele alone in the faceoff circle, and he wired a shot past backup goalie Kevin Lankinen.
