The Edmonton Oilers returned from the Christmas break with an easy 5-0 pounding of the San Jose Sharks and are now on a three-game winning streak. Below are the highlights from the game.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS ARE PRESENTED BY BETWAY

The Oilers opened the scoring one minute into the first period when Ryan McLeod wired a shot past rookie goaltender Magnus Chrona. McLeod picked up his first goal of the season at the end of November and now has six goals over his last 11 games.
Later in the first period, the Oilers popped off for three goals within a span of just over seven minutes to run away with the game. The first of those three goals came from Zach Hyman off of a nice pass from Connor McDavid. The goal was Hyman’s 20th of the season, putting him on pace to score 51 goals over 82 games.
A few minutes later, the Oilers extended their lead to 3-0 thanks to an Evan Bouchard one-timer from the point. Connor Brown picked up an assist on this goal in his return to the lineup after being a healthy scratch for the team’s past two games.
With just a couple of minutes left in the first frame, Leon Draisaitl added another goal to Edmonton’s lead to make the score 4-0. Warren Foegele won a puck battle on the forecheck and sent it out front for Draisaitl, who buried his 15th goal of the season.
The Oilers added another goal in the second period to make the score 5-0. Cody Ceci threw a shot on the net from inside San Jose’s blueline and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins deflected it past goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen, who came into the game in relief after the first period.
