The Edmonton Oilers looked to be cruising into the Christmas break with an easy win until the Vancouver Canucks stormed back with five unanswered goals to earn a 5-2 victory.
Below are the highlights from the game…

THE DAY AFTER IS PRESENTED BY BETWAY

The Oilers opened the scoring at the mid-way point of the first period when Warren Foegele sprung Derek Ryan on a breakaway with a perfect breakout pass. Ryan deked out Colin Delia and tucked the puck right in between his pad and the post…
Edmonton extended their lead to 2-0 in the dying seconds of the first frame. Leon Draisaitl dragged two Vancouver defenders with him and Connor McDavid was left all alone in front of the net. The tap-in goal was McDavid’s 30th of the season…
The Canucks cut Edmonton’s lead in half in the first minute of the second period. J.T. Miller took a shot from just inside the point and the rebound bounced up in the air and over Stuart Skinner…
Vancouver tied the game shortly before the end of the second frame. It was Miller again, this time picking up a rebound to make the score 2-2…
In the latter part of the third period, Bo Horvat gave the Canucks a 3-2 lead. Conor Garland won a battle down low, got the puck to the point for Tyler Myers, and his point shot bounced behind the net to Bo Horvat who tucked it past Skinner…
The Canucks extended their lead to 4-2 a few minutes later. Strong forechecking from Horvat led to a one-timer shot from Olya Mikheyev that got through Skinner…
And finally, Horvat put a bow on Vancouver’s comeback with an empty net goal that made the score 5-2…
