The Edmonton Oilers took down the Chicago Blackhawks by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday, extending their winning streak to eight games, which matches a season high and is one shy of matching a franchise record. Below are the highlights from the game.

Unlike in most of Edmonton’s games during their current streak, it was Chicago who opened the scoring early in the first period. Following a turnover, Jason Dickinson grabbed a loose puck at his own blueline, skated it into Edmonton’s zone on a two-on-one, and fired a shot past Stuart Skinner to put the Blackhawks up 1-0.
That lead didn’t last long as the Oilers answered back with a goal of their own just over two minutes later. Darnell Nurse made an excellent breakout pass up the ice to Ryan McLeod, who sprung Leon Draisaitl in on a partial breakaway. Draisaitl battled off the backcheck and flipped a shot blocker side on Chicago goaltender Petr Mrazek for his 19th goal of the season.
The Oilers grabbed their first lead of the night early in the second period. The Blackhawks did some good forechecking work on Evan Bouchard but they couldn’t gain possession deep in Edmonton’s zone. While the Blackhawks going for a change, Mattias Ekholm sprung Connor McDavid for a breakaway, and he deked out Mrazek before netting his 15th goal of the season to put the Oilers up 2-1.
Zach Hyman appeared to score an insurance goal for the Oilers in the third period, but upon further review, it was called back because Leon Draisaitl had gone offside earlier in the play. The Oilers wound up winning the game by a score of 2-1, but the final few minutes of the third were more stressful than they needed to be.
