The Edmonton Oilers are now on a nine-game winning streak after beating the Detroit Red Wings by a score of 3-2 in overtime. Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman scored in regulation, Darnell Nurse buried the overtime winner, and Calvin Pickard picked up the win. Below are the highlights from the game.

The score remained locked at 0-0 until a few minutes into the third period when Andrew Copp put the Red Wings on top with his sixth goal of the season. The Oilers weren’t able to break the puck out of their zone following a dump-in and Copp sniped a snot past Calvin Pickard through traffic from just inside Edmonton’s blueline.
Connor McDavid answered for the Oilers in the middle part of the third frame to tie the score at 1-1. Edmonton’s captain picked up the puck just outside of Detroit’s zone and quickly busted in and deked out Alex Lyon to break up his shutout. The play looked as though it might be offside but McDavid’s 16th goal of the season stood.
A few minutes later, the Oilers grabbed their first lead of the game when Zach Hyman buried his 26th goal of the season. There was a flurry of action in front of Lyon and the puck came out to the high slot for Hyman and he fired a shot into the open net.
The Red Wings were able to knot the score at 2-2 just a couple of minutes later to force overtime. Lucas Raymond threw a puck on goal from an awkward angle down low in Edmonton’s zone and it sat on the goal line for a couple of moments before defenceman Olli Maata was able to poke it in.
The Oilers sealed the deal in overtime to complete their ninth win in a row, matching a franchise record in the process. Zach Hyman brought the puck deep into Detroit’s zone, the Red Wings defenders knocked it away, and Darnell Nurse grabbed the rebound and fired it past Alex Lyon for the winner.
