GAME HIGHLIGHTS PRESENTED BY BETWAY

After a scoreless first frame, the Oilers capitalized on a power play right off the hop in the second period. Leon Draisaitl fed Ryan Nugent-Hopkins with a pass that dragged goaltender Petr Mrazek out of his crease and RNH feathered the puck through the slot to Connor McDavid, who fired a backhand shot into the empty net.
The Blackhawks had a great chance to tie the game late in the second period when MacKenzie Entwistle was awarded a penalty shot after an interference call on Vincent Desharnais. Entwistle went with a quick shot from the right hashmark and Calvin Pickard turned it aside.
The Oilers added to their lead in the third period. Connor McDavid carried the puck into Chicago’s zone, carried the Hawks’ defender with him, and then fed a perfect pass out front to Zach Hyman, who crashed the net and tipped the puck past Mrazek.
The Hawks continued to pour pressure on the Oilers throughout the third frame but Calvin Pickard was strong between the pipes. He turned aside 27 of 27 shots for his first shutout since the 2018-19 season, including a handful of big stops in the third.
With just over a minute left on the clock, McDavid sealed the win for the Oilers with an empty-netter, his 18th goal and 63rd point of the season.
