The Blue Jackets opened the scoring in the latter half of the first period. Edmonton lost a faceoff in their own end and the puck made its way back to Adam Boqvist at the blueline. He fired a wrist shot toward the net and Boone Jenner deflected it past Stuart Skinner…
In the middle of the second period, Derek Ryan picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone and split Columbus’ defenders and roofed a shot past Joonas Korpisalo to tie the game at 1-1…
A few minutes later, the Oilers grabbed their first lead of the night with a power play goal from Zach Hyman…
The Blue Jackets managed to tie the game in the second half of the third period. Kirill Marchenko grabbed the puck behind the net, dragged it out front, and buried his own rebound past Skinner to make the score 2-2…
Neither team was able to score in the latter part of the third period so the game went to overtime. A couple of minutes into the extra frame, the Blue Jackets skated around in Edmonton’s zone before Kent Johnson wired a shot from the high slot glove side on Skinner for the game-winning goal…
