The Edmonton Oilers are 1-3-1 on the season following a 3-2 loss in overtime to the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday. Below are the highlights from the game.

Things got off to a great start as Darnell Nurse opened the scoring just over one minute into the first period. Nurse jumped up from the blueline and took a pass in the slot and roofed a shot past Connor Hellebuyck to make the score 1-0.
The Oilers extended their lead to 2-0 a few minutes later with a power play goal while Jets defenceman Dylan Sandberg was in the penalty box for tripping. Leon Draisaitl fed the puck to the point and Evan Bouchard wired a one-timer that made its way through Hellebuyck for his first goal of the season.
The Jets got on the board later in the first frame with a power play goal of their own while Draisaitl was in the penalty box. Just as time was dying down on the penalty, Josh Morrissey fired a shot on goal from the point that made its way through a screened Stuart Skinner to make the score 2-1.
The Oilers got an opportunity to extend their lead with the man advantage late in the second period but they allowed the Jets to tie the game with a shorthanded goal. Evander Kane threw a shot towards the goal that rimmed around the boards and out of Winnipeg’s zone. Skinner went out to play the puck but Vladislav Namestnikov poked it past him and wrapped it around the net for an easy goal.
Neither team could score during the third period so the game went to three-on-three overtime. With just over one minute left on the clock, Mark Scheifele capped off the comeback and won the game for the Jets.
Connor McDavid didn’t play during the overtime period as he left the game late in the third frame with an apparent injury. His last shift came with about five minutes left in the game and the Hockey Night in Canada crew speculated that the issue came from a play in which he was tied up and dragged to the ice by Josh Morrissey in the first period.
