The Edmonton Oilers have now dropped back-to-back games, as the Detroit Red Wings came into town and earned a 5-4 win in the shootout. Below are the highlights from the game…

GAME HIGHLIGHTS ARE PRESENTED BY BETWAY

The Wings opened the scoring a few minutes into the first period when Dylan Larkin converted on a power play opportunity…
Detroit added to their lead later in the first frame when Mortiz Seider carried the puck into Edmonton’s zone off of the faceoff and fooled Jack Campbell with a wrist shot from beside the net…
The Oilers made the score 2-1 early in the second period. Connor McDavid brought the puck into Detroit’s zone and dropped it off to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins who sniped a shot past Ville Husso…
The Wings were able to regain their two-goal lead later in the second period. Again on the power play, Robby Fabbri fired a shot from the faceoff circle that Campbell couldn’t stop…
Nugent-Hopkins brought the Oilers to within one goal again just a few minutes later with his second goal of the game and 26th on the season…
The Oilers weren’t able to close the gap before the end of the second period, as Olli Maatta blasted a shot from the point through Campbell…
In the third period, Leon Draisaitl cut into Detroit’s lead with a classic power play goal….
A couple of minutes later, Derek Ryan deflected a shot from Klim Kostin to tie the game at 4-4…
After allowing some soft goals earlier in the game, Campbell made a potentially game-saving stop on a two-on-one in the latter part of the third period…
Three-on-three overtime didn’t solve anything so the game went to a shootout to decide a winner. Pius Suter wound up winning the game for the Red Wings in the fifth round…
