GDB Wrap Up: Ducks @ Oilers

79 down, 3 to go. Final Score: 4-2 Oilers
It’s strange to think that there are only 3 games left on the season after tonight. Last summer, we all had hope for a playoff run only to be eliminated by November. What the hell went wrong? (everything went wrong, I know) I don’t know about you guys, but this season felt so much longer because of the expectations. Back in September, I was already making plans for how to steal the Zamboni and get it to Whyte Ave. Fast forward to today and all we have left is to cheer on the Leafs collapse and other draft lottery. For shame, Oilers. For shame.
On the bright side, the Oilers won tonight and the draft whiners go to bed upset. I’m not sure why that makes me happy but it does. I guess it’s just that cheering against the Oilers for the 600th consecutive seasons bums me out and I’ve had enough of it. I’m happy to see wins regardless of what it does to the draft position.  Call me crazy but depending on 18 year olds to be difference makers hasn’t worked out lately. Feel free to tell me how stupid I am in the comments.
Let’s wrap it up…

The Bright Side

  • Viktor Fasth we speak your name!
  • THE OILERS SCORED A SHORTHANDED GOAL!
  • Anti-fight society was really upset tonight
  • 27 goals for Hall, Eberle, and Perron
  • The Oilers actually won on a National Broadcast

The Face Palmers

  • GREAT START, BOYS! #NotReally
  • TSN actually thinks Taylor Hall is a worse player than Chris Kunitz
  • Rexall DJ plays Wooly Bully to get the crowd fired up for the power play
  • Draft Whiners are looking at a sleepless night

Nation Charity Playoff Pool

The playoffs are coming whether we like it or not. The playoffs will be the first time that there’s been this much competitive hockey to watch all season. If you’re like me, you may need an excuse to tell the missus why you’re watching so much hockey even though the Oilers are no longer in the running – enter the playoff pool. How can she ever question your hockey watching if you say you’re doing it for charity? She cannot.
This year, part of the proceeds from go to the Inner City Children’s Program and we’d like to raise as much money as possible. Aside from doing your heavenly deeds, you’ll also have a shot at winning some pretty solid prizes if your team dominates the Internetz. The entry fee is only $10 and the deadline to enter is April 15th – make your way to www.nationdrafts.com to register.
