Golden Bear Anderson now an Oiler

From a CIS gold medal in hockey with the Alberta Golden Bears to a professional contract with the Edmonton Oilers, it’s proving to be a busy week for Golden Bears captain Harlan Anderson.
While nothing is official yet, I’ve got it from a very reliable source the Oilers will sign Anderson, a business student at the U of A, to a pro contract and send him to Springfield of the AHL.
Anderson, 25, is a six-foot-two, 200-pound defenceman who spent four years in the WHL with the Moose Jaw Warriors before donning Alberta silks for the 2003–04 season.
Expect an announcement in the next 24 hours.
Also, in case you haven’t heard, the Oilers have recalled goaltender Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers from Springfield. Here’s the official release:
“The Edmonton Oilers have added goaltender Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers to the roster on emergency recall from the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.Drouin-Deslauriers, a six-foot-four, 189-pound native of St-Jean-Richelieu, Quebec, will join the Oilers in Minnesota for the first game of their three-game road trip against the Minnesota Wild.The Oilers’ second choice, 31st overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry has appeared in 54 games for the Falcons this season and is 24-16-5 with a 2.91 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.This is the third time this season that the 23-year-old goaltender has been recalled from Springfield. He was previously recalled on November 13th and again on December 22nd, but did not see any playing time before being returned to Edmonton’s AHL affiliate.”
Obviously, with back-to-back games in Colorado Friday and Calgary Saturday, there’s enough concern about Mathieu Garon’s ankle that a move was made. The question now: does Drouin-Deslauriers start against the Flames?
