How You Can Help Fort McMurray

As I’m sure most of you already know, the city of Fort McMurray was ravaged by wildfires, creating the single biggest fire evacuation in Alberta’s history. Over 80,000 people have been displaced from their homes and we felt as though it was the Nation’s job to try to help raise money for those in need.
If you’re not from the area, or you don’t know what’s going on, I encourage you to take a few minutes and go through some of the #ymmfire tweets/pictures that have come out over the last 24 hours to get a feel for what these folks are going through. For me, the word devastation almost doesn’t do this whole mess any justice. What those people are going through looks more like hell.
As I watched the news, and read the tweets, I couldn’t imagine what it must have been like fleeing your home with fire closing in from all sides. Seeing the pictures and videos was terrifying enough let alone living through it. People’s lives literally went up in smoke, and now we’re calling on our fellow citizens to help out in any way that you can.It doesn’t matter whether that help is simply sharing this story, donating money, or otherwise we’re just looking to spread the word as far as we possibly can.

DRAFT PARTY TICKETS

As you guys likely assumed, we will be throwing another draft party at the Pint Downton on June 24th. This time around, we will be donating 100% of the proceeds to the Red Cross in an effort to raise some money for those in need as a result of what’s happening in Fort Mac. Obviously, this isn’t the way that we wanted to announce the party but we wanted you guys to know what we’re planning on our end. In addition, OilersNation and Oodle Noodle will donate $3000 to the Red Cross to help their quest of providing life essentials to those affected by the fires. We will be putting the tickets up for sale within the next couple days, and I will include all the details of what will be in the swag packs. Stay tuned to the Nation for the ticket link and further details.
