Inside the Nation: Oilers trade Milan Lucic to Flames for James Neal

After talking about a potential @Milan Lucic trade for a couple of summers now, Ken Holland finally pulled the trigger on a trade that will see the big man heading down Highway 2 to Calgary in exchange for “The Real Deal” @James Neal. How did this happen? Dustin Nielson has the breakdown.

With news breaking this afternoon that the Oilers and Flames pulled off a monster trade, Dusty jumped on the Internet machine for some instant analysis about the trade. Obviously, this is a major trade for both organizations and Dusty worked through all of the details of the deal, including what a buyout would look like for both teams should they choose to go down that road. Despite the potential for retained salary and conditional picks, it’s hard to find many reasons that this is NOT a win for the Edmonton Oilers and it’s actually surprising that the Calgary Flames thought this was a good idea.
