Introducing Kyla the Intern

When the Oilers season ends that doesn’t mean life stops at Nation HQ. We keep moving forward, figuring out new ways to grow the website, drink excessively, and occasionally search for new people to join our team. After concluding the Great Intern Search® of 2016 we found a new team member for you guys to get to know. Today I want to take a few minutes to introduce to the brand new addition to the team at Nation HQ. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Kyla… the Intern.
Baggedmilk: Who are you and how did you get here?
Kyla: I’m a strong, independent woman just trying to make my way through the world. And by that I mean I just graduated university, am very poor, and my biggest decision is usually if I want red or white wine. If we’re talking how I got into this world, I’d like to thank my Mama; if we’re talking how I got to working with you dudes: the big egg (Vegreville) raised me, I was beckoned by the big city lights (and the Oilers), got a degree that taught me how to effectively communicate, and now I’m here. You could say, started from the egg, now I’m here.
BM: Why did you want to be an intern at OilersNation?
Kyla: Well, the student loan people are going to start knocking at my door soon… just kidding, sort of. But in all seriousness, I’ve been a fan of the crew here at ON for a while and am happy to have joined a team that allows me to combine my degree and passion for hockey. Also, I don’t know if Chris has mentioned it, but I’m really good with a tape gun, so naturally sealing up Nation gear orders seemed like a good “fit”. See what I did there?
BM: What do you do during the day?
Kyla: Face swaps on Snapchat are a big part of my day. When I’m not doing that, I can normally be found in the basement sending out Nation gear in a timely manner, getting yelled at by post office staff, organizing the mess that Chris created in the basement (just kidding, you did good, kid), sending out Nation stickers, tweeting about stuff, finding content to post, Instagramming. It’s a tough life, really.
BM: Why will you be a better intern than Chris?
Kyla: Chris and I go way back, so I know his weaknesses and can kick him while he’s down.
I can’t exactly say that my “classic” movie knowledge beats his, but I can tell you — as a gentleman on Twitter pointed out — that I will not play with my mic stand during podcasts, which should win The Nation over.
BM: Would you say that I’m more of a hero, an icon, or just a mentor to you?
Kyla: Two weeks ago when the mystery of the infamous BaggedMilk was still going strong, I would’ve said a hero, but now that the mask has been unveiled… I’d say, well, mentor might be too strong of a word. I guess I’m supposed to respect my elders, but I’m still coming for your job when you retire, which should be any time now. But in all seriousness, I hope that one day I can be as funny and full of useless knowledge as you, BM.
BM: Where can people find you?
Kyla: If people want to follow me, I’d prefer they did it on social media:

The Wrap

There you have it, Nation. A brand new intern for you guys to know, love, and harass for stickers and NationGear. That being said, I will warn you that Kyla can dish it out as well as she can take it so I recommend that you treat her well. I’ve given her full authority to shank a fool if you guys are being mean, so I recommend that you handle your lives accordingly. I’m very happy to welcome Kyla to the team, introduce her to you guys, and make sure that Chris remembers to keep one eye looking over his shoulder.
