It’s a good thing Katz can get the Oil a deal on painkillers and bandages

It isn’t hard to make a case that the new generation of Oilers (Gagner, Cogliano, Gilbert, Nilsson) are taking the reins of the runaway wagon that has become the Mighty Oil this season. The old guard aren’t playing badly; they’re all on the IR shelf covered in ice packs and bandages.
You see lambs, Ethan Moreau—you remember him right, the Oilers Captain?—has rebroken his tibia and is out for the season. And this occurred not moments after our favorite Golden Boy Ryan Smyth had gone after Pitkannen, and Moreau was forced to grab Smyth in a bear hug and try and wrestle him to the ice. That must have broken his heart, and not long after his leg broke as well.
You would have to be stone-hearted, or possibly some sort of android to not feel bad for Ethan Moreau. All he has done as an Oiler is wear his heart on his sleeve, bringing the thunder each and every night. Having missed over a hundred-straight regular-season games, which included a brief post-season performance, Moreau collected nine points in 25 games before rebreaking his tibia last night against the Avs.
What on earth has this team done to anger you so, oh Gods of Hockey? Who must we sacrifice to appease you?

A win is a win last night. And we are thankful for that, especially trailing 2–0. But good grief, does the heartbreak ever end?
