It’s a good thing Lowe stayed out of the Hossa game

If that’s what it was going to cost to get the shifty bugger, it kills us to say it but it’s probably best the Oil stayed out of the Hossa sweepstakes.
The Penguins gave up Colby Armstrong and Erik Christensen, as well as last summer’s first-round pick, Angelo Esposito, and a first-round pick to the Atlanta Thrashers for Hossa. This is lunacy for a guy who’s a UFA at the end of the year.
Pittsburgh has no chance of resigning him long term—not with Ryan Whitney averaging $4 mil a year, Sid the Kid at $8.7 mil per year, Gonchar making $5 mil a year for the next two years, and Malkin needing a new contract at the end of next year. They must be really gearing up for a Cup run in Pittsburgh this year. That Angelo Esposito is a sho-nuff player.
You watch this one come back and burn Pittsburgh.
