This week marks the last chance to enter the new NationDrafts contest presented by Londonderry Dodge Chrysler Jeep. If you haven’t picked your 21-man roster and entered your free team, here’s a quick overview of some of the most important draft boxes below. Just a reminder, the grand prize is $5,000 in Visa Gift Cards!
The first draft box belongs to our boy, Connor. It features Connor, Sidney Crosby, Nikita Kucherov, Patrick Kane, and Gino Malkin. Four of these players have reached the 100 point mark in the past six years, and the other guy is Nikita Kucherov. It’s the only competition worthy of McDavid’s time.
The second draft box features Leon Draisaitl and he’s in for some steep competition. We love Drai and he’s on an upward trajectory, notching 77 points as a 21-year-old, but his draft box is tough. Alongside Draisaitl in box number two is a perennial point-per-game player, Niklas Backstrom, former 60-goal-scorer Steven Stamkos, and two guys coming off their most dominant seasons – Brad Marchand and Mark Scheifele. Will Draisaitl make your team?
In the box that should be labelled “I wish I was as good as Connor”, it will be interesting to see who prevails. This draft box features Jack Eichel, Auston Matthews, Patrik Laine, David Pastrnak, and Artemi Panarin. Lord knows Toronto thinks Auston Matthews is going to get 100 goals but realistically this draft box could go to anyone. Whoever wins, one thing is for sure, none of these guys will touch McDavid’s totals.
If you’re wondering where former employee of the month, Taylor Hall has landed, it’s all the way down in draft box number ten. He’s battling it out with an aging Henrik Zetterberg, who somehow grabbed 68 points last year, and a handful of former stars looking to bounce back. This includes Claude Giroux, Anze Kopitar, and Patrice Bergeron. No matter who you pick, none of them can be traded for Adam Larsson – that’s against the rules.
How do trades work? Each team gets one trade per week so you can swap one guy for another player within the same draft box. So if you’ve got a crystal ball, you can pick-up Stamkos for his next four-goal game and then swap back for our boy Leon the next week.
