The Edmonton Oilers will be looking to snap a two-game home losing streak on Thursday night when they welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs to town for the first of two meetings as +110 underdogs on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Edmonton closed out a four-game road trip with a 6-4 loss in Winnipeg on Tuesday, and returns home with just three wins in eight overall contests this season going into Thursday night’s contest at Rogers Arena.

Maple Leafs vs Oilers | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Oilers have struggled at both ends of the ice during their shaky start. Mikko Koskinen has shouldered a heavy workload in the wake of an injury that has indefinitely sidelined veteran backup Mike Smith. With the Finnish netminder getting the start in all eight games to date, the club has allowed 29 total goals, the second highest total in the NHL this season.
Edmonton has also been limited to two or fewer goals in three of its past six outings. That has contributed to the mixed results the club has produced in totals betting, with the OVER going 4-3-1 at online betting sites in their eight outings.
Thursday night marks the third meeting of the season between these two clubs. The Oilers visited Scotiabank Arena for a pair of matchups last week, opening that two-game series with a 3-1 win as +130 underdogs on Wednesday. However, the club followed up with a somewhat disappointing performance in a 4-2 loss two nights later. And while the Oilers have managed to take two of their last three from Toronto they have struggled badly when facing the Maple Leafs on home ice, losing outright in each of their past four and scoring just nine total goals.
The Maple Leafs will be aiming to add to Edmonton’s woes as they arrive in town set as -130 chalk. Toronto opened its current four-game road trip with a two-game sweep in Calgary, and now rides its first three-game win streak in 11 months.
Overall, the Maple Leafs have tightened up their game considerably since opening the campaign with a pair of high-scoring clashes with Montreal and Ottawa. Tuesday’s narrow 4-3 win over the Flames marked the first time in six games that the club has surrendered more than two goals, and also snapped a steady 4-0-1 run for the UNDER.
