Merry Christmas!

I just wanted to take a minute this morning to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas. From all of us here at Oilersnation, I hope that everyone is enjoying their day as best you can under the current circumstances and strangeness that is Christmas 2020. I know it’s been a weird one, but I still wanted to stop in, say hi and let you all know that I’m thinking about ya.

No matter what’s happening on this wonderful Christmas morning, I hope that each and every one of you is able to spend the day doing whatever it is that makes you happy. Whether you’re with your family in person or trying to figure out a way to connect over FaceTime, playing with the treats and toys that Santa left for you under the tree, or running through coffees and Baileys like I am, I wanted to make sure that I started the day with a note to say Merry Christmas. Needless to say, it’s been an unbelievably odd year and one of the few things that have made writing about sports during this downtime at all tolerable has been the fact that we’re navigating these strange days together. Sure, we may argue about contracts or line combinations or what went wrong with any given game on any given night, and it’s not at all abnormal to shake one’s head at the opinion of complete Internet strangers, but no matter what, we’re all in this thing together and that’s a reason to grateful. To put it another way, you incredible citizens are the straw that stirs the drink around here and I wanted to make sure to recognize it this morning.

Now, if you’ll excuse me I’m going to make a fresh pot of coffee, kill the rest of this Baileys, and go watch every Christmas episode of The Office. Have a wonderful day off, Nation!
