Nation Playoff Sim – Day Two

You’ve gone and stepped into the weird part of the internet, where we are simulating the 2020 NHL playoffs on EA Sports NHL 20. You missed our first live stream of Game 1 against the Canucks yesterday. Fear not, you can still click here and see the feed (kind of, see below). But tune in tomorrow for Game 2 at 7PM MT. Until then, feel free to have a read of “what happened” in tonight’s games that we didn’t live stream, but did simulate for your continuity pleasure.

Game 1 Colorado/Dallas final score: 5-2 Dallas (Series 1-0 DAL)

The combination of @Joe Pavelski and @Alexander Radulov is what would end up sinking the Avs in tonight’s game. Losing home ice advantage on the way to a 5-2 loss in Game one.

An even back and forth game, gets blown wide open in the third as the @Boston Bruins allow goals in a 4 minute span that sink them. @Brock Nelson is the hero with two goals and Varlamov turned away 30 of 31 shots in the victory.

The Leafs come out of the gates firing, and after they put up a 2-1 first, the Lightning respond with their own 2-1 period in the second. The third solves nothing, and for the second time this playoffs (Oilers/Canucks being the first) we have overtime. Just about eight minutes in, @Nikita Kucherov breaks in off the wing and snaps home his hat trick goal, and for the 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
