I probably (read as definitely) take this thing too seriously and so my morning consisted of re-simulating every matchup from the first round of the playoffs so far this year to get the same outcomes from every series. Why you ask? Well simply because I like to think someone is reading these and cares for a little continuity. Below you can read through the box scores of every one of the other (not Canucks/Oilers) First Round series in our playoff sims. Tonight at 7pm MT we will be broadcasting Game One of the Oilers vs the… vs the.. well you will just have to read down further to see what happened in the Vegas/Calgary series.

Game 5 Washington/Carolina final score: 6-4 Washington (Series 4-1 WSH)
Game 4 3-2 OT WSH
Game 3 5-4 WSH
Game 2 6-2 WSH
Game 1 3-2 CAR

I had a whole other recap written up for this one after the Hurricanes just decimated the Caps in the first half of the game. Up 4-1 with half a game left to go, this shouldn’t have happened. That’s when @Ilya Kovalchuk and co. showed up and came to play. The Capitals had the lead early in the third and Holtby shut down the push from the Canes. Onto the second round for the Capitals.
