The NHL announced a rejig of its schedule Wednesday afternoon after dozens upon dozens of games were postponed due to COVID-19.
For the Edmonton Oilers, a total of nine games have been affected.
As seen in my tweet below, the Oilers will have an incredibly busy stretch of hockey through what was to be the Olympic break. Between Feb. 8-20, Edmonton will play a total of eight games.
Five will be at home against the Vegas Golden Knights, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, Anaheim Ducks, and Minnesota Wild. The team will also play a few on the road, and thankfully travel won’t be too tenuous. Those road games will be in San Jose, Los Angeles and Winnipeg.
The ninth game was bumped to March 7 on the road against the Calgary Flames.
The stretch will feature two back-to-backs. On Feb. 8-9 Edmonton will play Vegas and Chicago at home, then the following week, Edmonton plays San Jose and Los Angeles on the road Feb. 14-15.
Despite a torrid stretch, Edmonton will have a bit of time to prepare. The Oilers first game in February comes on the 2nd on the road against the Washington Capitals giving them a five-day break before Vegas comes to town.
