The Edmonton Oilers will be opening their 2020-21 season with a January 13th game against the Vancouver Canucks.
The NHL released their full 2020-21 schedule Wednesday afternoon officially showing off their new slate of divisions. Edmonton will play out of the North Division with the other six Canadian teams that will feature the sure re-sparking of rivalries.
In total, Edmonton will play home games for their first four games of the year. On the 14th, they play Vancouver again before the Montreal Canadiens pay visit for games on the 16th and 18th.
Edmonton hits the road for four games: two in Toronto on the 20th and 22nd, and two in Winnipeg on the 24th and 26th.
This season marks the first-ever year with an all-Canadian division. For Edmonton it marks the 41st year that they share a division with the Canucks going all the way back to 1979-80 when Edmonton joined the league.
In the last 10 games against their new division rivals, the Oilers have had the most success against Montreal posting 7-2-1 record. Their least success, meanwhile, comes against the Calgary Flames whom the Oilers have gone 3-6-1 in the last 10 for.
Edmonton will also see the highest precentage of back-to-back games in the NHL this sason. A total of 12 percent of their games are in back-to-backs sharing that spot with the San Jose Sharks.
The season will close for Edmonton on May 5th with a Friday night game against the Calgary Flames on the road.
