The Oilers continued their pre-season cuts today by sending eight players down to the Bakersfield Condors. As we all know, the Oilers will be heading over to Europe in the coming days to kick off their 2018-19 season, and the coaching staff hasn’t wasted any time in bringing the roster down and closer to the where they’ll start the season.
Today’s axe-wielding saw the team sending back four forwards, three defencemen, and a goaltender to Bakersfield with nine days to spare until the start of the Condors’ training camp.

The Cuts:

Tyler Benson (F) – Bakersfield (AHL)
Josh Currie (F) – Bakersfield (AHL)
Joseph Gambardella (F) – Bakersfield (AHL)
Patrick Russell (F) – Bakersfield (AHL)
Caleb Jones (D) – Bakersfield (AHL)
William Lagesson (D) – Bakersfield (AHL)
Ryan Stanton (D) – Bakersfield (AHL)
Dylan Wells (G) – Bakersfield (AHL)
Looking at the names on today’s cut list, I was a little bit surprised to see Tyler Benson get sent down already considering how well he’s played in the pre-season, but it makes sense for him to get down to Bakersfield to get his AHL season started. After today’s round of cuts, the Oilers’ training camp roster has now been broken down to 35 players.
The Condors kick off their pre-season schedule next Saturday, September 29th against the Stockton Heat.
