Edmonton is riding high after recording a decisive 8-3 victory over the Calgary Flames on Saturday night to claim sole possession of second place in the Pacific Division standings, just three points back of Vancouver going into Tuesday night’s matchup at Gila River Arena.

Oilers at Coyotes | OddsShark Matchup Report

Saturday night’s win as +145 road underdogs at online betting sites continued a stellar run for the Oilers, who have earned at least a point in 10 of 11 contests including eight victories during that stretch. The Edmonton offence continued to click on Saturday, generating the team’s highest goal total this season, and they have now potted at least seven goals on three occasions during their current 11-game tear.
The Oilers have also managed to limit opponents to just three goals per game during their 8-1-2 run, and the team’s impressive play has extended to recent road contests with the Oilers scoring 4.50 goals per game while going 4-0-2 over their past six away from Rogers Place. That has benefited bettors taking the OVER on the totals, which has gone 5-2-1 over their past eight outings overall.
In addition, the Oilers have enjoyed consistent success against the Coyotes, going 3-0-2 in their past five meetings, according to the OddsShark NHL Database, capped by a lopsided 7-3 victory on home ice back on January 18. Edmonton has also posted wins in five of six trips to the desert since November 2016. However, games between these two teams played in Arizona have tended to be close, with five of the past seven dates getting settled by just a single goal, including the Oilers’ 4-3 shootout victory as +105 underdogs on November 24.
The Coyotes enter Tuesday’s contest searching for answers. Arizona is pegged as -115 home chalk despite being mired in a five-game losing streak that threatens to bounce them from the playoff picture in the Western Conference.
The Coyotes’ recent offensive struggles continued in a 3-2 shootout loss to Chicago as -140 home favourites on Saturday. Overall, Arizona has averaged just two goals per game during its five-game slide, and has been shut out twice during the dismal 1-5-3 run that has dumped them to fifth place in the division, three points back of the Oilers.
