And while the Oilers have powered their rise in the standings with wins in seven of their past 10 outings, scoring has been an issue at times. The team has scored three or fewer goals in six of its last nine outings. However, they showed clear signs of rediscovering their offensive momentum in Saturday’s win. After struggling to produce at times during April, Leon Draistaitl busted out by setting up all four goals in Saturday’s win.
Connor McDavid also maintained the torrid pace that has been the difference for this team down the stretch. The Oilers captain scored once and added a pair of helpers on Saturday, and has padded his lead atop the NHL scoring race with 18 total points over the past seven games.
Equally important has been the Oilers’ recent steady performance on the road. Edmonton enjoys a 5-1-0 run in its past six away from Rogers Place, and has surrendered just five total goals over its five recent road victories.
That is all bad news for the Canucks, who return home as lengthy +170 home underdogs at betting sites after going winless on their recent four-game swing through Ontario (how sports betting works). After being swept in a crucial two-game set in Ottawa to start this past week, Vancouver was outclassed in a pair of lopsided losses to the division-leading Toronto Maple Leafs. While the Canucks hold multiple games in hand on all their divisional rivals, their recent swoon has all but ended their playoff hopes. The team now sits 14 points back of fourth-place Montreal with 11 games remaining, including seven games on the road.
