The Edmonton Oilers will be looking to stay perfect against Ottawa this season when they open a two-game series with the Senators on Wednesday as -190 road betting favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Edmonton has dominated the Senators in seven overall meetings this season, and has tallied wins in four straight visits to Ottawa going into Wednesday’s game at Canadian Tire Centre.

The Oilers have outgunned Ottawa by a wide 36-15 overall margin during this season’s 7-0-0 run against them, and by a 13-3 margin over the two most recent meetings between these two teams in Edmonton in mid-March. However, things have been a lot closer in this season’s two clashes to date at Canadian Tire Centre; the Oilers hung on for a 3-2 win to open their last series in Ottawa in early February, and needed a third-period rally to escape with a 3-2 victory one night later.
Those games marked somewhat of a shift in fortunes for the Oilers when battling the Senators on the road after scoring 20 goals over the team’s four previous visits to Ottawa.
Of greater concern is Edmonton’s recent spotty offensive play that has contributed to uneven results. The Oilers have been limited to just 2.20 goals per game while losing three of their past five contests, and have scored three or fewer goals in 14 of their past 18 overall games. The team has particularly struggled on the road, where they have now come up short in five of their past seven games. Edmonton mustered 2.71 goals per game during that stretch, though that is a number skewed by the team’s 7-3 win in Calgary back on March 17.
In addition to contributing to a steady 4-1-1 run for the UNDER at online sports betting sites over the past six games, the Oilers’ recent inconsistency has cost them valuable ground in the race for the top of the North Division. Edmonton now sits just five points up on fourth-place Montreal, while lagging seven points adrift of the frontrunning Toronto Maple Leafs.
While the Oilers try to reclaim their early-season form, the Senators aim to continue their recent respectable play on home ice as +165 Wednesday underdogs. The Senators return home after splitting a two-game road trip that featured dates in Montreal and Winnipeg. Ottawa has fallen to defeat in 11 of its past 17 games, and sits in the division basement.
However, they have been far from a pushover on home ice, where they have won seven of their past 12 games. Like Edmonton, though, the Senators have struggled to generate offense, averaging just two goals per game while seeing the UNDER prevail in six straight home contests.
