The Edmonton Oilers will be looking to sweep their season series with Ottawa when they battle the Senators on Thursday night as -190 road favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Edmonton improved to 8-0-0 against the Senators this season with Wednesday’s 4-2 victory, and is also unbeaten in five straight road dates with Ottawa going into Thursday night’s matchup at the Canadian Tire Centre.

The duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl led the attack in Wednesday’s win. Draisaitl recorded his third hat trick of the season, and set up McDavid’s lone goal, while the Oilers captain tallied helpers on each of the big German’s markers.
McDavid and Draisaitl had combined to score just two total goals in the team’s previous five games, with Edmonton falling to defeat in three of those contests. However, the duo has remained consistently productive against Ottawa. Draisaitl has racked up 10 goals and 10 assists through eight meetings with the Senators, while McDavid has four goals and 16 assists.
Equally impressive has been the Oilers’ defensive play in recent trips to the nation’s capital. Edmonton has held the Senators to just nine total goals over its past five dates at the Canadian Tire Centre, with four of those victories coming by multi-goal margins.
Edmonton, though, still has work to do to overcome its recent inconsistent play on the road, as the team has failed to record consecutive wins while going 3-3-2 in its past eight contests away from Rogers Place. And while Edmonton remains among the top scoring teams in the NHL overall, the team has mustered fewer than three goals per game during its recent road swoon. However, the team has been reliable when playing the second contest in games played on consecutive nights, going 5-2-1 so far this season.
With Mikko Koskinen earning the win in Wednesday’s contest, Mike Smith is likely to get the call in Thursday’s season series finale. Smith has backstopped Edmonton to at least a point in each of his past four road starts, with the three most recent outings going to overtime. Smith has also been between the pipes for three previous meetings with Ottawa this season, limiting the Senators to just four total goals, including a 3-1 road win on February 8.
Now mired in a three-game home losing streak, the Senators return to action on Thursday as +165 home underdogs at online betting sites. Overall, Ottawa has averaged just two goals per game over the team’s past seven home dates, and is winless this season in the back half of games played on consecutive nights.
