Welcome, friendly podcast listeners, to a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio! This week, break down last night’s horrible loss in LA, the pair of crucial games coming up this weekend, @Zack Kassian’s next contract, goaltending, and a whole lot more.
To start off this week’s podcast, we jumped in with a recap of last night’s disastrous game in Los Angeles which turned into a conversation about why the Oilers so often play down to their competition. We can’t just blame the six-week @Jeff Carter 1000 game ceremony, can we? Next up, we got into the Oilers’ goaltending situation and made cases why @Mikko Koskinen should be given a run at the starter’s role. That’s not necessarily a slight at @Mike Smith, but rather a tip of the cap to how well Koskinen has played. As expected, no one could agree on how Tippett should deploy the goalies and we spent 15 minutes arguing about who should play when and how much. From there, we moved on to the Sherwood Ford Giant Question of the day which set an over/under on @James Neal goals for the season. Sticking with goal scorers, we then discussed @Zack Kassian’s upcoming contract negotiations and offered guesses on what that might look like from both an organizational standpoint and also from the player’s side. With limited funds available, Ken Holland will have to spend his pennies wisely and we wondered what that might look like. As always, it was a jammed episode of Oilersnation Radio and one that you’ll want to sink in your earholes as soon as possible.
