Another week is set to wrap and that means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is here to get you prepped for the weekend. On today’s podcast, we looked at Leon Draisaitl’s Art Ross win, the NHL draft lottery, goaltending, and a whole lot more.
To start off this week’s podcast, we jumped in with a look at Leon Draisaitl’s progression since being draft in 2014 and how he’s gone from being sent back to junior in his rookie season winning the Art Ross trophy in 2019-20. With an NHL points title already under his belt, will he be adding a Hart Trophy to his mantel as well? Changing gears, we looked at the 24-team playoffs and took some guesses at what the NHL might do with the points registered during those series. Are they playoff points? Do they disappear into the ether? Only time will tell, but it’s going to be interesting to see how the NHL sorts through these details. Looking at our weekly Armchair GM segment, we took some guesses at what the Oilers should do with Mike Smith. Should Ken Holland look at bringing Smith back for another year or should he go fishing for a different option entirely? Sticking with goaltending, we looked ahead at the playoffs and walked through whether or not Dave Tippett should start Mikko Koskinen or Mike Smith in net. Will Tippett go with the more experienced Smith? The more consistent Koskinen? Play them both as he has all season long? All-in-all, it was another jam-packed episode of Oilersnation Radio and one that you’ll want to sink into your earholes as soon as possible.
