The Edmonton Oilers will be looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season when they return home on Wednesday to take on the Philadelphia Flyers as -135 favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Edmonton closed out its first road trip of the season on Monday with a 3-1 loss in Chicago. That brought a halt to a six-game win streak that dated back to April, and left the club with a 5-1-0 record heading into Wednesday night’s matchup at Rogers Place.

The Oilers fueled their best start since 1985 with strong performances from their best players. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl picked up where they left off last season, combining to tally 23 points during the club’s season-opening five-game win streak, while new arrival James Neal has shown flashes of the form that powered him to a career-high 40 goals in 2011/12, potting eight goals through six outings.
And Edmonton has been rewarded on the NHL futures, climbing to +2000 on the Stanley Cup odds at online betting sites, while moving to +650 on the odds to win the Pacific Division.
The challenge now for the Oilers will be maintaining their early-season momentum on home ice. Edmonton earned wins over Los Angeles and Vancouver in its first two home dates of the season, and has claimed victory in eight of 14 outings at Rogers Place since mid-February. Close contests have been the norm when the Oilers play at home, with 10 of their past 14 being settled by a single goal, and Edmonton emerging victorious on six occasions.
The Oilers have struggled to produce steady results in recent dates with Philadelphia, dropping three of four overall. But the club earned a 4-1 win as -120 chalk in the Flyers’ last visit to town in December to improve to 7-1-2 in 10 home clashes since the start of the 2002 NHL season according to the OddsShark NHL Database.
Pegged as +110 underdogs for Wednesday’s contest, the Flyers arrive in town riding a six-game road losing streak after dropping a 3-1 decision in Calgary on Tuesday at +125 on the moneyline, and have scored two or fewer goals in six of their past eight road contests.
