PHOTOSHOPPING SOME VIOLENT GENTLEMEN

Is there anything better than a good scrap in a hockey game? No, I’m not talking about a staged fight between two guys that can barely play. I’m talking about a fight derived from anger and passion. These guys are gladiators and today, thanks to our friends at Violent Gentlemen and their new line “Trust and Tradition,” we’re here to celebrate that wonderful moment when fist meets face.
Part of growing up as an Oilers fan meant getting to know and love the warriors that threw down over the years. Dave Semenko, Georges Laraque, Huggy Bear… They’re all part of my Oilers experience. To this day I still love seeing a good scrap which got me to thinking about how we could roll this into a contest. How can we express our love of face punching without having to be punched in the face ourselves?
The answer is a photoshop contest.
THE THEME
The theme of this contest is simple. I’m asking you to fire up your photoshop machines and recreate some of the greatest battle in history, and put an Oilers twist on them. Look at the picture above. Look how thrilled young Connor McDavid is about knocking out Ivan Drago. This is the kind of entry we’re looking for. We need to know these boys at Violent Gentlemen that they’re not the only ones that know about fighting.
The theme of this contest is famous fights with an Oilers twist.
THE RULES
The rules for the contest are simple… You have to create an original photoshop that fits within the theme of a famous fight with an Oilers twist – that’s it. All we ask is that you try to make it as funny and as ridiculous as possible. I mean, if you’re going to win a prize you’re going to have to earn it.
The deadline to enter will be Sunday (October 18th) at 11:59pm. Anything that comes in past that deadline will be disqualified unless it is so mind meltingly good that my bowels are literally evacuated just from the site of it. THE PRIZES…
As always, we can’t have a contest without prizes so I’ve raided Wanye’s desk, begged our friends at VG, and bothered Oodle Noodle they were wiling to pay up. I want to thank Violent Gentlemen, and Oodle Noodle for always stepping up when I ask, and for very rarely kicking me out.
