If you’re looking for a new jersey, newly acquired Edmonton Oiler, Pontus Aberg, has settled on a number with his new squad and will only be the fourth player to wear #46 in team history.
As we move into the final 20 games of the season, Pontus Aberg will be one of the players that most Oilers fans will be keeping a close eye on. Aberg has had some AHL success (25 and 31 goal seasons over the past two years) but was never able to maintain a spot with a very deep Nashville Predators team. With the Oilers, Aberg will get plenty of opportunities to get some games in and show what he can do at the NHL level.
For those of you that are already all-in on the newest Oiler forward, we now know that he will be wearing #46 in Edmonton and will only be one of four players to ever wear the number. Who are the other Oilers to wear #46? We have the answers:
-Zack Stortini (257GP – 2006-2012)
-Todd Reirden (17GP – 1998/99)
-Jani Rita (wore the number for 6:09 of ice time in 2001/02)

Aberg, a former second-round pick in 2012 (36th overall), has spent the past three+ seasons bouncing back and forth between the Nashville Predators and the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL.
