The Edmonton Oilers will be looking to snap out of their current funk as they play host to the New York Rangers on Tuesday night as -145 betting favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. New York is the +125 underdog for the game.
The Oilers dropped their second straight decision last time out last Friday, falling 5-1 at home to the rival Calgary Flames at -105 on the moneyline at online sports betting sites, in a PUSH on the listed betting total of six goals. That pushed Edmonton to just 1-4 over its last five contests, and an ugly 2-8 over its past 10 outings dating back to December 8.

Edmonton, however, did manage to beat the Rangers in their first meeting of the season on October 12, winning 4-1 as +105 road underdogs that night behind a three-point game from Leon Draisaitl and a goal and an assist from Connor McDavid. Mike Smith was between the pipes for the Oilers that game, allowing just one Rangers goal on 21 shots.
Kaapo Kakko scored New York’s lone goal in that October defeat, with Henrik Lundqvist taking the loss after allowing three goals on 26 shots. Alexandar Georgiev is slated to get the start for the Rangers on Tuesday night; he’s 10-7-1 with a 2.99 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage on the season.
Edmonton has now won three straight games against the Rangers, picking up the victory in both of their matchups last season as well. Overall, though, the Oilers are just 4-6 in their last 10 games against the Rangers dating back to December 2014, according to the OddsShark NHL Database, with the UNDER paying on the totals in each of their last four meetings.
The Oilers have called up forward Kailer Yamamoto for Tuesday’s game, and he practiced on a line with Draisaitl and Joakim Nygard on Monday. McDavid lined up with James Neal and Zack Kassian in Monday’s practice, splitting apart the NHL’s two leading point-getters.
