The Edmonton Oilers are actively shopping forward Jesse Puljujarvi with the Finn looking for a fresh start, sources told Sportsnet’s Mark Spector.
Puljujarvi, 24, is reportedly garnering trade interest from at least four teams with the Oilers looking to get the highest return possible.
Spector reported a return on Puljujarvi is likely a draft pick with the Oilers looking to flip it in a deal for another player. A number of potential deals were listed by Spector. A poll of pro scouts he spoke to suggest a return of a second, or third-round pick would be fair
Puljujarvi is deemed “a play killer” inside the Oilers dressing room, it is believed, where two of the best centremen in the world have not been enough to turn Puljujarvi into a legitimate Top 6 winger in the NHL. The puck dies on his stick in the offensive zone too often to continue to saddle Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl with such a winger on a regular basis. – Spector
Teams listed by Spector as possibilities included the Arizona Coyotes, Carolina Hurricanes, New Jersey Devils, Ottawa Senators and San Jose Sharks as potential trade partners.
Puljujarvi is a restricted free agent this year and is coming off a two-year deal paying him an AAV of $1.175-million.
