Report: Edmonton Oilers closing in on Duncan Keith trade

By Zach Laing
1 year agoThe Edmonton Oilers are reportedly close to acquiring Duncan Keith.
According to TSN’s Darren Dreger and Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, who tweeted similar information moments apart, a deal is approaching.
This deal has been in the works for sometime. Friedman first reported on June 30th that Chicago was looking to trade Keith, and now, it appears that two weeks later that’s about to happen.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m not a fan on acquiring Keith based off his heavily inflated salary, the fact the Oilers are likely to move a young player like Caleb Jones, and the fact the game has begun to pass Keith by at a rapid pace.
I’ll reserve some true reaction for if/when this deal actually breaks, but it sure does appear to be on the verge of happening.
