Risky Business: Looking for a mulligan against the Carolina Hurricanes

When the Oilers are winning, I always look forward to writing my game day betting article. Why wouldn’t I want to create content around the money I’m winning thanks to the team I love finally playing the way we all expected them to from the jump? Yet, when I saw that the first game back from this six-day break was a rematch against the Carolina Hurricanes, my first instinct was to be extra cautious with my wagers. I know that’s the practical thing to do every single bet you place, but I’d argue that it’s way more fun to chase the juice from time to time. As much as I always love the ride of chasing a juicy bet, I think the move in this first game back is to ease my way back into the betting waters rather than trying to make a splash against a very strong opponent.
If you’re following along at home, the odds I’m using for my game day betting articles all season come from Betway. Here’s what I’m putting down against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Evan Bouchard over 2.5 total shots at +120. My $5 bet would return $11.00.
Oilers to register 30+ shots at -120. My $5 bet would return $9.00.
Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid both to score at +400. My $5 bet would return $25.00.
Can’t Miss Parlay:
Over 6.5 total goals and Leon Draisaitl to register 1+ point at -110. My $5 bet would return $9.54.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t getting very angry watching Connor Hellebuyck stone the Oilers for the 53 minutes leading up to the stinker he allowed on Darnell Nurse’s wrister from the blue line. Thankfully, Darryl’s goal seemed to break the curse or something because it was the pre-curser to what was a fantastic comeback win that was as exciting as it was needed.
Here’s what I bet against the Jets:
- Evan Bouchard over 2.5 shots at +100. ✅
- Over 60.5 total shots at -125. ✅
Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl both to score at +375. Edmonton Oilers to win and over 5.5 total goals at +155.
And there you have it, friends. Now you know what I’m betting on and how I did last game. As always, I put one unit down on each bet. Hit me up in the comments section to let me know what you’re looking at against the Hurricanes.
It’s also worth noting that betting lines move throughout the day, so that may be the reason why what’s listed above doesn’t match what’s on Betway when you put together your own bets.
