The Edmonton Oilers will continue their search for consistency as they open a four-game homestand on Wednesday night with a visit from the Ottawa Senators as -220 betting favourites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Edmonton escaped with a narrow 3-2 win in Vancouver on Sunday to earn a split in a weekend home-and-home series with the division-rival Canucks, but the team continues to produce uneven results with just 10 wins in their past 21 outings going into Wednesday night’s matchup at Rogers Place.

Senators at Oilers | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Oilers’ win in Vancouver as +100 underdogs at sports betting sites put the brakes on a two-game losing streak. However, the team continues to produce sporadic results on offence, potting just six total goals over their past three games.
And while recent contests on home ice have tended to feature more scoring, the Oilers have largely disappointed, falling to defeat in five of their past seven at Rogers Place. The team has surrendered five or more goals on four occasions during that stretch including losses to the Canucks and Dallas Stars in their past two home dates while being outscored by a 10-6 overall margin.
Despite those struggles, the Oilers have entered the month of December still in control of top spot in the Pacific Division standings. And while Edmonton has slipped behind Vegas to a +350 second favourite to close out the regular season atop the divisional standings, they have continued to make steady gains on the Stanley Cup odds, where they now join the favourites as a +1600 wager.
While the Oilers continue to exceed expectations, they cannot afford to look past Ottawa. The Senators own a strong track record in recent road dates with the Oilers, posting wins in 11 of their last 13 visits since 2001. That run includes victories in each of their past five, with Ottawa outscoring the Oilers by a 20-8 margin over that stretch.
