Sending Out Positive Friday Vibes

With the dark cloud that followed the Game 4 loss, I figured that we all needed to shake it off and step up to the plate to do our part in turning things around. We need a win tonight and I think we should utilize the power of positive Friday to help get that done.
My friends, I’ve seen a lot of negativity circling on Twitter and in the comments section of this website and I think it’s our duty as Oilers fans and Nation citizens to do what we can to turn those frowns upside down. I mean, I get why we’re all salty after the refs helped the Oilers blow a 2-0 lead where they eventually lost in overtime, but I’ve complained about the refs just as much as anyone and that’s all in the past now.
We don’t know what the refs were thinking/not thinking when they blew those calls in Game 3, but there’s nothing we can do about it now. What I do know is that there’s another game tonight and it’s a game that the Oilers have to win so I’m trying to rally the troops to ensure that we’re headed into tonight in the right state of mind. Some people may say that fans have no impact on the game but I disagree. I think we can make a difference if we all work together at sending out our positive vibes into the universe so I wanted to get the party started.

I’M WEARING SHORTS AND WATCHING OILERS

When was the last time you were able to wear shorts and an Oilers jersey at the same time while the team was still playing games? Answer: Probably the 2006 Cup run. We haven’t seen meaningful games past November in a decade and now the Oilers are in a 2-2 series tie in the second round of the playoffs. As an added bonus, you can watch those games on a patio without risking frostbite. That’s fantastic.

FRIDAY NIGHT GAME MEANS WE CAN GET LIT UP

Playoff hockey means that a lot of us have been drinking too many beers probably too often and still going into work the next morning. Tonight’s game landing on a Friday means that we can get well “hydrated” and not have to worry about waking up early tomorrow. That means guilt free beers, and guilt free beers mean a more positive environment for Oilers fans everywhere.

THE OILERS ARE 2-0 IN FRIDAY GAMES

Looking for a reason to party and feel good tonight? The Oilers have won both games they’ve played on Friday nights and I’m looking for that trend to continue. Against San Jose, the Oilers shut out the Sharks 2-0 in the lone Friday game they played in Round 1 and they beat the Ducks 2-1 on the road last Friday. Basically what I’m saying is that the Oilers love playing on Friday nights and we should love when they do it too.

CINCO DE MAYO

I’ve already talked about the beauty of Friday games but how about the fact that this specific Friday game happens to fall on Cinco de Mayo. Personally, I love tacos and tequila and any day that encourages me to consume both of those things is just fine by me.

DOGS LOVES THE OILERS TOO

I present you with exhibit A. This dog is watching the game as intently as any of us and you have to think that having doggos on our side can be nothing other than positive. Shout out to the canine unit. Doggo Nation for the win!

WE HAVE CONNOR MCDAVID

At the end of the day, having the best player in the world on our hockey team helps me get through the nights that don’t go our way. I think tonight will go our way, and the man in the gif is going to be a big part of it. *stands on table* Oh captain, my captain.

WHAT DID I MISS?

I know there are plenty of things to be positive about on this glorious Friday and I know I’m missing a bunch of them. I don’t care what those positive things are about, I just care that we post as many as we can think of before game time. If we all do our part in sending out positive vibes into the universe I feel like the hockey gods will channel those back into the McTuft receiver. When that happens, the Ducks will lose a third straight game at home and the Oilers will have a chance to clinch on Sunday.
What are you pumped about today, Nation?
