The ‘Happy Anniversary Connor’ Party!

With another season down the tubes the only thing Oilers fans really have to look forward to is summer-time shenanigans, and we can’t officially start summer without a party. As if you weren’t expecting us throw another draft Connor party!

As sad as it is to admit, the draft and free agency have been the most exciting parts of the season for long suffering citizens of OilersNation. If we’re looking for bright sides, at least the off season gives us a chance to recharge our hope batteries and get ready for the marathon of heartache that has been the last decade. This year is a little bit different; The Oilers pick at #4 and there’s a very real chance that the team could actually trade that pick and forgo the first round, or move down to acquire more assets. With that in mind we have decided to not just celebrate the draft, but celebrate the one year anniversary of having our beloved Connor in our lives!

Since throwing a party for the sake of celebrating failure is generally more sad than fun, we will once again be using ticket sales to raise money for charity.  If we’re going to make irresponsible choices because of a terrible hockey team, we’d better raise some money for a good cause. Tickets are now on sale for $30 with all proceeds going directly to the Red Cross in an effort to support those affected by what’s happening in Fort McMurray. Normally we wouldn’t be talking about the draft party Connor’s Anniversary party this early, but we wanted to put the tickets on sale immediately to help raise money for those in need. 

In addition to sending ticket proceeds over to the Red Cross, OilersNation and Oodle Noodle will donate an additional $3000 in an effort to help provide life essentials for the folks that need it. As you guys know, community involvement is a big part of what we do and this is no different. If you’re not interested in the party (or can’t make it) but would still like to contribute, you can check out some options on how you can get involved in the article I posted yesterday. 

If there is one thing that this Infinibuild® has taught us it’s how to throw a draft party. Every year we look for different angles to make the party better, and this year will be no different. This time around, we’re hoping to put together the best swag bags we’ve ever done, more giveaways than ever before, and give you guys even more reasons to invade the Pint Downtown with your fellow citizens on Friday, June 24th! We want to go out of the draft party business on a high note. We truly/honestly/seriously do not want to be doing this again next year. 

Since we’ve spent a decade following our beloved Oilers down the rabbit hole of suck, we’re taking this opportunity to remember some of the good times. Well… One good time specifically. This year we’re not so much celebrating the draft as we are celebrating a very important day in Oilers history — the Connor draft. Since we wanted to honour McDavid’s anniversary we felt that there was no other option but to throw a party in his honour, and let him know how much we appreciate him. The fact that our anniversary with him coincides with the NHL draft made for an easy transition. 

For each ticket you buy, you’ll get an exclusive Draft Party t-shirt (as seen above), a $20 Pint GC, a $10 Oodle Noodle GC, a $10 gift card courtesy of our friends at Jiffy Lube, a draft party collector’s cup, a chance at other prizes, and the knowledge that you’ve helped us raise money for an amazing cause.  We hope to raise as much money as possible, so we’re asking you to abstain from buying those moon boots you’ve always wanted and come to celebrate Connor’s anniversary instead.

If you want to support the cause but are unable to attend the party you can still buy tickets and we will send out your swag package out to you. All you have to do is email me your t-shirt size and mailing address, and we will send everything out as soon as we can.
