Quinn Finley’s junior career got off to a strange start.
After getting selected first overall by the Madison Capitols in the USHL Draft, Finley’s first season with the organization was cancelled due to COVID and he wouldn’t play his first game for the Capitols until the start of the 2021-22 season.
However, while Madison was kept off the ice Finley and his teammates were not. The USHL held a Dispersal Draft for the Madison players and the Chicago Steel selected Finley. In his first season with the Steel, Finley played in 39 games scoring one goal and six points. He did not play a game in the playoffs as the Steel went on to win the Clark Cup.
Back in Madison, Finley had a fantastic season with 12 goals and 29 points. He also played in his first postseason action helping the Capitols get to the Clark Cup Final, which they, unfortunately, would lose to Sioux City. Finley scored five goals and ten points in the playoffs in 14 games.
In the interview with Liam Horrobin, the Madison forward talked about his experience with Chicago and how they helped him develop. They also spoke about his hometown NFL team, the Green Bay Packers, his time in Slovakia with Team USA and the NHL Draft combine.
